She who has health, has hope...

I wanted to include this bonus step for you all, because as a healthcare provider, I know this quote by Thomas Carlyle to be true:

“She who has health has hope, and she who has hope, has everything”

As moms, wives, sisters, grandmothers, friends, and women, we so often put everyone’s needs ahead of our own, including our own health.  It’s not uncommon for us to ignore symptoms, cover up aches and pains, or self medicate with alcohol and food.

If there is one thing I like to convey to all of the women in my practice, it is that you are not alone in this struggle.  I strive to keep my space safe for women to take care of themselves, with no excuses or justifications.  Sometimes, all it takes is someone telling you, “It’s ok to not be ok.”

My goal with this campaign and in my daily practice is to help women just like you find their way back to themselves, physically, emotionally, and environmentally.

8My life hack for this bonus step is this…schedule the appointment!

Do you need your annual mammogram?

Is it time for your preventative visit to the ObGyn?

When was the last time you had your blood work run?

How long have you been carrying around that therapist’s number, waiting to call?

Is it time to once and for all figure out why you have chronic back pain or headaches?

Beyond scheduling a nail appointment, or hair appointment, or facial, it’s time to truly put you and your health at the top of the list.

In my office, I focus on working with patients as a member of their healthcare team.  I co-care with pediatricians, ObGyns, midwives, dentists, PCPs, physical therapists and more.  Because the one thing I know is that when your nervous system is functioning at its best, everything else gets easier!  While our patients’ main concern is always our focus, we practice in a neurological, functional space.  Focusing on where you are experiencing stress and imbalance in your nervous system helps me get to the root of the concern, and ultimately help you heal and live at a greater, more optimal level.

So, when you sit down to create that ideal schedule, and start focusing on your goals for combating this mom stress thing, consider carving out time to get your nervous system checked, and set you on a path of greater overall health.
